Warning

Before mounting or removing the sensor, be sure to confirm that

the rotor has stopped rotating. Otherwise, your fingers or clothes

might be pinched and taken into the mechanism resulting in seri-

ous injuries.

1. OUTLINE

The LG-930 is a reflection-type photoelectric detector developed for medium dis-

tance detection applications. By simply attaching the reflection mark (supplied

with the equipment) to a rotating object, the LG-930 detector can detect the rota-

tion of the object without actually touching the object. The LG-930 detector has a

hybrid structure with all light- projecting, light-receiving, amplifying, and wave-

form-shaping sections built into the unit to offer a compact design with easy-to-

operate functions. The LG-930 also uses visible rays for easy positional alignment

and incorporates operation indicators to simplify equipment settings. Because the

light source of the LG-930 detector uses a pulse-lighting method, it is practically

unaffected by disturbance light.

2. INSTALLATION

(1) Precautions on installation

 Metal fitting

Be sure to securely fasten the metal fitting to prevent it from becoming loose due

to vibration.

 Installation sites

If the LG-930 detector is installed in the following locations, change its fitting

direction or cover it to prevent possible erroneous operation.

• Where exposed to strong disturbance light or where unwanted light directly

enters the lens .

• Where subject to excessive vibration or shock.

• Where subject to excessive dust conditions.

• Where water or oil may splash directly onto the lens

(2) Precautions on handling

Be careful not to damage the lens (located at the tip of the detector) or contami-

nate it with dust. If the lens is soiled, clean it by carefully wiping with a soft

cloth.

(3) Precautions on wiring

 Connect the LG-930 detector to the power supply and measuring equipment

(counter) according to the wiring diagram shown below. Although the LG-

930 detector uses I 90cm cables (connected directly from the detector), if an

extension is required, use the 50cm extension cables supplied by Ono Sokki

(Type D-5). When connecting these cables, avoid routing along other power

cables to eliminate noise or other adverse effects.

 Ripple can be minimized by avoiding connection between the signal COM

wire (green) and 0V terminal of the power supply (black). For this reason, do

not externally connect the signal and 0V power supply unless absolutely

necessary. Note that both are connected inside the detector. A shielded wire

is connected to the detector case. Connect this shielded wire to the counter

GND or COM (whichever functions better).

(4) Checking operation

After confirming that all wires are properly connected, turn the power on and

check equipment operation. Bring the reflection mark (supplied with the detec-

tor) to within the detection range to check whether the operation indicator lights.

When the indicator goes on, the output signal should change to high level

(about5V). If the indicator does not go on, check the power supply polarity or

the wiring.

this manual and notices on the unit label.

4 The following failures will be handled on a fee basis even during the warranty period.

(a) Failures occurring through misuse, mis-operation, or modification.

(b) Failures occurring through mishandling (dropping) or transportation.

(c) Failures occurring through natural calamities (tires, earthquakes, flooding, and lightening}, environmental

disruption, or abnormal voltage.
