07 - Recommended Screening Process and Best
Practices
Sentry MK4 MFSS scans skin temperature to determine if a person has an elevated body temperature and
is not reflective of the actual core body temperature. To further enhance the effectiveness of the screening
operation, we recommends the following screening process and practices which is encapsulated from our
decade of experience and involvement with such screening operation during pandemics like SARs.
7.1 Items to Prepare
1. Clinically approved thermometer
2. Disposable face mask
3. Latex gloves
4. Sanitizer
7.2 Locations to Prepare
1. Screening Area: 10 - 16ft (3 - 5m) away from the camera field of view which provides optimal screening
accuracy.
2. Holding Area: A location away from the crowd, ideally outside the facility/building.
3. Containment Area: An isolated location away from the crowd and easy access for the medical
transportation team to pick up the febrile person.
7.3 Recommended Screening Process
1. The crowd entering the “Screening Area” via the stanchion or other barriers.
2. Anyone who does not exhibit fever symptoms are able to safely pass through the “Screening Area”.
3. A person with elevated body temperature will trigger the system and the following would be heard and
seen on the monitor:
• Audible alarm.
• The person will appear yellowish-red in the thermal video stream.
• The person will be actively tracked by target boxes on both thermal & day camera video streams for
easy identification.
4. The febrile person would be brought to the “Holding Area” for further checkup. Their temperature
would then be manually measured via a clinically approved thermometer.
5. The medical staff should also check the febrile person’s travel history and look out for any symptoms of
any infectious diseases such as fever, cough, runny nose etc.
6. If the person has a temperature equal to or above the target temperature and has travelled to infected
countries, the person will be escorted to the “Containment Area” and wait for further instructions.
7. The febrile person would then be sent to a medical facility to undergo another medical examination.
