4-10 Using the constant video
Constant video is a feature that automatically records movies up to about 30 minutes while the
live screen is displayed.
Constant videos can be recorded to a recordable media intended for such a purpose
(microSDHC card). Use the recommended microSDHC card. For recommended products, please
contact Olympus.
microSD and microSDXC cards are not supported.
Make sure that the media for recording constant videos is correctly inserted before use.
Make use of this feature while paying attention to the following points.
●
Due to the recording function of the unit, movies that were recorded more than about 30
minutes ago will be erased.
●
Only movies in the live image display can be recorded.
●
Constant video will not be recorded for about 5 seconds when live images are displayed for
12 hours continuously while constant video is running.
●
Index marks cannot be recorded on constant video.

Image recording preparation
Format the constant video recording media with this unit before using it. For details about
formatting, refer to “microSD FORMAT” (page 57).
●
Mount a microSDHC card.
●
Set MENU
→
RECORD MODE
→
CONSTANT VIDEO to “ON”.
A constant video recording icon is displayed.
●
To record sound during constant video recording, set MENU
→
RECORD MODE
→
STILL
AUDIO to “ON” and use a headset.

Recording a constant video
Constant videos are recorded after constant video recording is enabled in the menu.
TIP
Never attempt to remove the microSDHC card while the data recording is in progress.
Otherwise, the recording stops and an error message appears on the display.

Playing a constant video
●
Recorded movies can be played back from Menu → PLAY CONSTANT VIDEO.
For more details on how to play back constant video, refer to “Playing back and pausing the
movie” (page 50).
