Chapter 7 Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization Procedures

ULTRASONIC BRONCHOFIBERVIDEOSCOPE BF-UC180F

Presoak for excessive bleeding and/or delayed reprocessing

Follow the steps below only in case of excessive bleeding

and/or delayed reprocessing: unnecessary immersions

should be avoided. Consecutive extended immersions may

damage the endoscope.

Fill a basin with fresh detergent solution at a temperature and concentration

recommended by the detergent manufacturer. Use a basin that is at least

40 cm by 40 cm (16” by 16”) in size and deep enough to allow the

endoscope to be completely immersed.

Carefully coil the endoscope’s insertion section and universal cord, and

completely immerse the endoscope in the detergent solution.

Do not coil the insertion section, universal cord and ultrasonic

cable with a diameter of less than 12 cm. Equipment damage

can result.

Connect the suction cleaning adapter to the endoscope. Complete immerse

the endoscope in the detergent solution.

Attach a 30 cm

(30 ml) syringe to the suction cleaning adapter. Withdraw

the plunger of the syringe to fill the instrument/suction channel and suction

cleaning adapter with the detergent solution (see Figure 7.21).

Connect the syringe to the irrigation port and pull the plunger to fill the

balloon channel with detergent solution.

With the endoscope, suction cleaning adapter and syringe completely

immersed in the detergent solution, disconnect the suction cleaning adapter

and syringe.

To prevent damage, do not pull the tubes of the suction

cleaning adapter when disconnecting it from the endoscope.

Always pull the caps.

Soak the endoscope for 1 hour at the temperature and concentration

recommended by the detergent manufacturer.

Remove the endoscope from the detergent solution.

After soaking the endoscope, manually clean it following the procedures

described in this section.
