 / SETTING

B. Detailed explanation
(1) Max. SYMB Speed

• Maximum modulation speed (baud rate) of V.34

• Effective both at the time of sending and receiving
• The upper limit value of V.34 maximum bit speed is determined.
• Normally you do not need to change the value. In case that a V.34 error frequently

occurs, you can attempt to set up SYMB3000 and decrease the symbol rate, for 
instance.

(2) Control CH Speed

• A bit speed of the control channel 
• Default is 1200 (The bit speed of many modems is 1200.)
• The negotiation of 2400/1200 is performed in the V.34 start-up procedure.
• Normally you do not need to change the setting.

(3) SYMB Select Criterion (S/N, Distortion)

• S/N is measured by sending and receiving line conditioning signal (L1/L2) in the Phase

2. Its result determines the SYMB speed (modulation speed).

• -6 to +6 [dB]
• Standard: It becomes easy to select a high SYMB by using “- direction”.
• Distortion: It becomes easy to select a high SYMB by using “+ direction”.
• After S/N and distortion are measured, optimum SYMBOL rate is determined.

(4) Main CH Speed Selection Standard

• The bit speeds of V.34 are determined by the Phase 3 (training).
• This functional parameter sets thresholds for the bit speed determination.
• -8 to +7 [dB]
• It becomes easy to select a high speed by using “- direction”.

(5) PIX TxATT, TONE/Procedure Signal TxATT, CED/ANSam TxATT and DTMF TxATT

• Output level setting
• -15 to -10 [dBm] (Depends on country spec)
• Directly sets modem. there are no external attenuator.

(6) CD/SED ON Level

• Reception signal sensitivity level -48 to -33 [dBm] in steps of 5 dBm
• SED is not used.
• Default is -48 dBm.
