Paper Feed Jam (Error 391:1st tray)

(3-1)

Paper jam occurred immediately after turning on the printer. (1st tray)

Paper-feeding route inside the 
front unit

Check the sensor lever of the 
entry sensor 1 and 2.

Check the condition of sensor 
signal detection.

Check the output level of 
entry sensor 1 and 2.

Check the power supply of 
front sensor board (MIP 
PCB).

Confirmation Tasks

Open the front cover, and check whether the paper jam 
occurred during the route.

Check whether there is something abnormal about the form of 
sensor lever and its movement.

By using the switch scanning test function of the maintenance 
utility, check whether the sensor signal has been normally 
detected.

Check the following signals of FSNS connector of main board 
(TB3 PCB).
2pin: entry sensor 1
3pin: entry sensor 2
Operate and adjust the sensor lever in order to check the 
above signal level.

Check the power supply of 5V of CN connector of front sensor 
board (MIP PCB).
1pin: 5V power supply
5pin: 0VL

Action at NG

Remove the jammed 
paper.

Replace the sensor 
lever with a new one.

Replace the main 
board (TB3 PCB) or 
front sensor board (MIP 
PCB) or the connecting 
cable with new one.

Replace the front 
sensor board (MIP 
PCB) with a new one.

Replace the connecting 
cable with a new one.

Check whether the paper jam occurred during the route.

Check whether there is something abnormal about the form of 
sensor lever and its movement.

By using the motor clutch test function of the maintenance 
utility, check whether paper feed motor operates normally.

Pull the HOP connector of main board (TB3 PCB) out, check 
the following resistance value on the cable side.
