WIRELESS H2S TRANSMITTER (WT SERIES) - USER GUIDE

10.

INSTALLATION

1.

Installation Best Practices

CAUTION

: Avoid installing the transmitter where it will be unnecessarily

exposed to wind, dust, water (i.e. direct hose down), shock, or vibration.

Observe temperature range limitations.

WARNING

: The sensor may be adversely affected by prolonged exposure

to certain materials. Loss of sensitivity, or corrosion, may be gradual if such

materials are present in low concentrations. These materials include:

Halides (compounds containing chlorine, fluorine, bromine, iodine), acid

vapors, caustic liquids or mists.

WARNING

: Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) is considered a heavier-than-air gas and

tends to settle in low-lying areas when released into the air. Install the WT-

H2S with the sensor module facing downwards close to the ground level.

Ideally, install above ground, between 12 in. (30.5 cm) and the breathing

zone of a worker, 3-6 ft. (0.9-1.8 m) above grade level is recommended.

WARNING

: Ensure that only qualified personnel perform the installation.

WARNING

: Verify that the atmosphere around the transmitter is

consistent with the appropriate hazardous location certifications.

a.

Follow your organization’s best grounding practices.

b.

Always install the transmitter in the upright position so that the

antenna pole is correctly oriented.

c.

Have at least 10 ft of vertical separation with other antennas.

d.

Face the LCD away from the sun when possible for better visibility.

e.

All housing covers MUST be tightly fastened to protect against

external environmental elements.

f.

All housing entries MUST be tightly SEALED using thread seal tape or

sealant. Failure to seal all port entries may allow moisture to enter the

transmitter housing, cause damage to internal components, and void

warranty.

WARNING

: Once installed, if the transmitter immediately issues an alarm,

respond as though the alarm is real until it is proven false.

WARNING

: Verify that gas concentrations in the area have dissipated to a

safe level before clearing alarms.

2.

Estimated Sensor Module Life

Sensor module cartridges are factory tested and calibrated. The accuracy is

guaranteed for up to 2 years from the installation date. The sensor module

cannot be recalibrated.

3.

Sensor and Module Care and Handling

WARNING:

Review Product Certifications for any restrictions

associated with a Safe Installation.

WARNING:

Do not obstruct the gas sensor port by making direct

contact with tape or any other apparatus.

Care has been taken by the manufacturer to ship modules in protective

packaging to avoid contamination prior to installation. It is recommended

that the module remains protected during installation and that the

covering be removed immediately prior to system start-up.

If necessary, dust and debris may be removed by applying low pressure air

spray to the membrane from inside of the removed cap, no closer than 3"

from the membrane, no greater than 30 psi.
