ENGINEERING OF A
SPLIT SYSTEM
Note
The machine-specific information on engineering
and preparation can be found in this document‘s
machine-specific engineering and preparation sec
-
tion.
Note
Plan the installation sites for the outdoor and indoor
units so that the refrigerant lines are as short as
possible and the pipes are routed as straight and
simply as possible.
Note
If the pipe liner is laid empty, inserting the refriger-
ant lines afterwards will be difficult if not impossible,
depending on the position layout of the connection
line.
»
When laying refrigerant lines in the ground,
schedule the work so that the pipe liner can
be laid together with the pre-inserted refrig-
erant lines in the trench between the outdoor
and indoor units.
Note
Observe national and regional regulations regard-
ing the requirement for and design of lightning
protection.
Note
Observe the machine-specific limits of use.
5. Outdoor unit
5.1 Installation location
The outdoor unit is intended to be installed only out of
doors. Please note the following with regard to the instal-
lation location of the outdoor unit:
►
Select the outdoor unit installation location so that the
appliance can be safely accessed from all sides all
year round.
►
Installation in a hollow or ditch is not permissible (cold
air pocket).
►
High wind loads on the outdoor unit can cause
problems with defrosting in defrosting mode. Avoid
installation in an open and exposed location with high
expected wind loads (e.g. flat roof of a house in a
raised location).
►
Select an installation location where the appliance is
on the side of the building facing away from the wind
(“leeward side”).
Material damage
The air flow through the evaporator must not be
obstructed by surrounding buildings. A reduced air
flow rate can lead to loss of efficiency in the system.
»
Observe the machine-specific requirements
regarding the installation location.
Material damage
The intake air must not be contaminated with corro-
sive substances (ammonia, sulphur, chlorine, etc.).
This can destroy machine components.
5.2 Minimum clearances
Observing the specified minimum clearances for the out
-
door unit ensures:
►
Correct installation of the appliance
►
That it operates fault-free
►
Ability to carry out maintenance on the appliance
»
Observe the machine-specific minimum clearances.
5.3 Foundations for the outdoor unit
A permanent foundation is required beneath the outdoor
unit. The foundation must meet the structural requirements
of the outdoor unit.
»
Provide frost-free drainage (e.g. a gravel bed con-
nected to a drain) for condensate that forms on the
outdoor unit.
»
Where refrigerant lines are to be laid in the ground,
ensure correct positioning of the pipe liner when lay-
ing the foundations.
»
Use rigid underground sewer pipes (with a smooth
inner surface) for the pipe liner. We recommend using
sound-insulated underground sewer pipes.
»
Ensure that the outdoor unit is adequately secured,
with regard to the wind load occurring at the installa-
tion location.
»
When constructing the foundations, observe the ma-
chine-specific guidelines.
