Model 35628-00 Microprocessor Based Pocket Size Temperature Tester
BEFORE FIRST USE: Remove plastic strips between batteries and contacts if present.
Caution: do not bend probe or expose the plastic probe connector to temperatures above
176°F (80°C).
CONNECTING THE PROBE: Remove the tester cap. Insert the probe plug into the jack at the
bottom of the TempTestr.
CALIBRATION: The TempTestr is factory calibrated to ensure accuracy within stated tolerances. It
is not necessary to calibrate unless it is desirable to achieve exact readout agreement with a work
standard at a specific temperature.
Select a reference thermometer such as an
NIST
or
ASTM
certified thermometer. Insert into a
temperature controlled water bath up to the calibration temperature point and note the reading.
Insert the TempTestr probe tip 3 inches into the water bath.
Press the TempTestr
HOLD
button, then press and hold the °F/°C button. Press the
HOLD
button
again and let up both buttons. A “CA” will appear and the temperature will flash. Adjust the reading
±5° by pressing the
HOLD
button until the desired temperature is displayed. Press the °F/°C button
to confirm calibration. A “CO” will be displayed, then the calibrated temperature will be displayed
and the
HOLD
function is cancelled. This calibration is retained until batteries are replaced at which
time the TempTestr defaults to the factory calibration.
TEMPERATURE TESTING:
• Connect the probe and press
ON
/
OFF
button to turn on.
• Insert the probe tip where measurement is needed. Do not immerse probe above
plastic connector!
• Press “
HOLD
” button if you wish to hold the reading (“
HO
” will be displayed momentarily).
Press it again to release it (“
HC
” will be displayed momentarily).
• Press the on/off button to shut off.
• There is an automatic shut-off after 8.5 minutes to conserve batteries.
CHANGING BATTERIES: Flip up the battery compartment lid. Remove old batteries and replace
with fresh ones noting polarity as shown in the battery compartment.

ERROR MESSAGES:
ER 1
means the batteries are low and should be replaced.
OR
means the temperature is out of range or the probe is not fully inserted into the jack
or is shorted.
NOTE: the probe is NOT interchangeable with other TempTestr probes and is NOT replaceable.
