Verify Kit Contents
Verify that all kit contents are included.
a.) MSC8156ADS with attached plastic spacers
and screws
b.) CodeWarrior Development Suite with license, Suite
Quick Start and memory stick with software
c.) Documentation CD for MSC8156ADS
d.) AC/DC 12V/5.5A universal power supply kit (1)
e.) RS-232 standard serial cable with two
9-pin connectors (1)
f.) Ethernet cables (2)
g.) USB cable Type A to Type B (1)
h.) Allen key (1)
Note:
A UTAP connector, used for system debugging,
is not supplied in the kit; it can be ordered separately.
Default Settings
The board is shipped with default settings.
For detailed settings information, access the Hardware
Getting Started Guide on the documentation CD. Use this
guide to verify switch (Section 5) and jumper (Section 6)
default settings.
Assemble the Power Supply
For standalone mode, assemble and connect
the 12V power supply by following these steps:
a.) Ensure that all power is turned off.
b.) Assemble the AC/DC power supply kit as follows:
Connect the power cable to the suitable country-
•
specific wall plug option.
Connect the assembled power cable to the
•
power supply.
c.) Connect the AC/DC power supply cable to the 12V
(P5) board jack.
d.) Plug the power cable into the wall outlet.
e.) Insert one end of the USB cable into the board USB
socket (J13).
Note:
In AMC mode, power comes from a connecting board
(not shown in photo).
Power Up and Power Off
Perform the initial power up and system check:
Move the power switch (S1) to the ON position. After
•
completion of the PRESET sequence, LDs 13 and 14
display a constant green light.
Move the power switch (S1) to the OFF position to power
•
off the system.
Note:
Steps 1 to 4 describe the mechanical setup and
basic ADS contents for a standalone system. Refer to
the
Hardware Getting Started Guide
and
MSC8156ADS
Reference Manual
for other configuration details.
