5.8.2
Ground Fault
Figure 106 - Ground Fault Page
This page displays the live value of the Ground Fault (GF) Current associated with a heat trace circuit.
The Elexant 4010i/4020i controller detects ground faults by summing the outgoing and return trace
currents through an internal current transformer. Under normal operating conditions (no ground fault
condition), this current will be zero. When there is a flow of current from one of the load conductors to
ground, a ground fault condition occurs.
5.8.2.1 High/Trip Ground Fault Alarm Settings
Figure 107 - High/Trip Ground Fault Alarm Settings
Procedure:
Touch the corresponding
Enable
check box to turn on/off the corresponding Alarm indication and touch
the corresponding
Latch
check box to select a latching or a non-latching alarm type. When latching is
selected, the alarm will need to be manually reset each time the corresponding alarm occurs.
Figure 108 - High/Trip Ground Fault Setpoint & Filter Settings
Filter:
When the Ground Fault current exceeds the High GF Setpoint, the controller will only trigger an
alarm if the corresponding High GF condition is present for the duration of the filter period
(0 - 28 seconds). If an immediate alarm indication is required, then the corresponding filter value should
be set to 0.
Figure 109 - Ground Fault Current Offset Setting
Offset:
Ground Fault Offset may be used to remove inherent (background) ground fault readings in long
line systems.
