Speaker Frame

For use with NuTone Speakers
L O C AT I O N
1. Locate speaker frame at a convenient operating height:

2. For mounting purposes, locate speaker next to a wall

3. To avoid feedback, do not locate any speaker and/or
Master Station housing back to back or in a common
all between rooms.

To accommodate the speaker panel, allow a minimum
clearance – on all sides of rough-in frame – of 2".

IMPORTANT: The Rough-In Housing must be mounted
in vertical position.
NEW CONSTRUCTION
1.
Refer to Figure 1.
In a plaster installation, place the
housing's

" plaster flange TOWARDS the finished side
of the wall.

Refer to Figure 2.
In a drywall installation, place the
housing's plaster flange AWAY from the finished side
of the wall.
EXISTING CONSTRUCTION
1. Be certain area behind the wall where frame will be located
is free of obstructions.
2. Use the frame as a template for marking the required
cutout. Place the frame's plaster flange against the wall
at the desired location. Make a line around the inside
edge of the frame.
3. Make the cutout. Carefully cut along the inside
of the marked line.
4. Insert frame into cutout and mark location of four
mounting holes.
5. Remove frame and drill four pilot holes.
6. Reinsert frame into cutout and secure with screws
p r o v i d e d .
W I R I N G
1. The wiring and rough-in should be installed when the
intercom system is roughed-in. Leave sufficient wire
(at least 1 foot) for connection to speaker.
2. Run wire from speaker location to master unit location.
Use wire specified for the system being installed; refer
to installation instructions provided with the Master Station.
IMPORTANT: Use only NuTone specified wire. See
Master Station installation instructions for complete
system installation.
