PRECESSION ELEPHANT 2 Scan Head 2
6.7.2 Adjusting the focus
Tools
•
Laser safety glasses appropriate to the laser in use
•
Gauge block between 0 mm and 1.5 mm in height to set the distance from the
nozzle to the work piece.
•
Several sheets of metal with a thickness of 0.2 mm as a work piece for drilling
tests
•
Microscope
Requirement
•
The nozzle incl. the protective glass has to be mounted to the scan head.
Procedure
1. Parametrize the laser for processing the work piece with minimal effect, e.g.
with pulse repetition rate between 800 Hz and 1000 Hz and average power as
low as possible.
2. Insert the work piece.
3. Set the distance between the nozzle and the work piece to your desired value
between 0 mm and 1.5 mm.
The optimum distance depends on the work piece geometry and the gas flow
beneath the nozzle.
The factory setting for the distance between nozzle and focus is 1.0 mm. This
equals the Z-position of 0 %.
