Required materials/equipment

The following materials and equipment are required to upgrade the firmware in an i401 laser:

•

Firmware upgrade file (i401_Firmware_Upgrade.zip) from Novanta

•

Ethernet crossover cable

•

Windows®-based personal computer

Firmware upgrade procedure

Important Note: The firmware upgrade must be performed using a peer-to-peer connection

between the i401 laser and host computer as described below. The i401 web interface is not

compatible with Google Chrome browsers.

Disable your computer’s firewall

If your computer’s firewall is enabled, notify your IT Administrator and disable the firewall before

continuing with this procedure.

Enable your computer’s TFTP Client

By default, the TFTP Client is disabled on Windows® 7 and Vista operating systems. Follow the steps in

this subsection to enable the TFTP Client feature.

In the Windows Control Panel (Figure below), double-click Programs and Features.

in figure below.
