4.0 - WORKING OPERATIONS
It is the responsibility of the owner or operator to read this
manual and to train all other operators before they start work
-
ing with the Kwik-Pit.
Follow all safety instructions exactly. It is everyone’s busi
-
ness. By following recommended procedure, a safe working
environment is provided for the operator, bystanders and the
area around the work site.
The design and configuration of this machine includes safety
decals and equipment. Hazard controls and accident pre
-
vention are dependent upon the personnel operating and
maintaining it. Their awareness, concern, prudence and
proper training are crucial.
Many features incorporated into this machine are the result of
suggestions made by customers like you. Read this manual
carefully to learn how to operate the machine safely, and to
provide maximum efficiency.
By following the operating instructions, in conjunction with a
good maintenance program, your Kwik-Pit will provide many
years of trouble free service.
1. Read and understand the Operator’s Manual and all safety
decals before using.
2. Hydraulic drives: Park on a level surface, stop the engine,
place all controls in neutral, set park brake, remove ignition
key and wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing,
adjusting, repairing or unplugging any area of the machine.
3. Electric motor drives: Disconnect and disable electrical
supply completely and wait for all moving parts to stop be
-
fore servicing, adjusting, repairing or unplugging any area
of the machine.
4. Clear the area of bystanders, especially children, before
starting.
5. Be familiar with the machine hazard area. If anyone enters
hazard area, shut down machine immediately. Clear the
area before restarting.
6. Keep hands, feet, hair and clothing away from all moving
and/or rotating parts.
7. DO NOT step on or touch moving Kwik-Pit Drive Over
Conveyor belt.
8. Intake end must always have downward weight. Do not
release until attached to tow bar or resting on ground.
9. Keep riders off. Riders on the implement are subject to
injury such as being struck by foreign objects and being
thrown off of the machine.
10. Stage the equipment away from overhead obstructions and
power lines during operation and transporting. Electrocution
can occur without direct contact.
11. Be sure that area around machine is clear before raising
or lowering the machine.
12. Empty Kwik-Pit from all material before moving.
13. Avoid holes, ditches, and obstructions which can cause
tractor, machine, or towed equipment to roll over, especially
on hillsides.
14. Always shut off tractor and shift to park or set brakes when
leaving tractor. Remove key when leaving tractor unattend
-
ed.
15. If chemicals or fertilizer are used, additional care must be
taken to thoroughly clean the conveyor after operation.
Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for their handling
and storage.
16. Tow machine behind a properly equipped tractor or with a
truck, be sure that it is at minimum 1 ton rated.
17. Never attempt to increase the height of the tube or discharge
end by positioning wheels on lumber, blocks, or by any other
means. To do so will result in damage to conveyor and/or
serious injury.
