158 Chapter 34 Power supply replacement

Power supply replacement task flow

This task flow shows you the sequence of procedures you perform to replace
a power supply. To link to any procedure, go to “Task flow navigation”
(page 159).

CAUTION

Risk of service loss

If a switch does not have redundant power, a software
operator must remove the switch from service before a
hardware installer removes a power cable or power
supply. For information about minimum and redundant
power configurations, see 241-7401-200 Passport 7400
Hardware Description.

CAUTION

Risk of equipment damage

One ac power supply and one dc power supply must not
be installed in the same Passport switch.

WARNING

Damage to equipment by electromagnetic interference

Empty power supply bays must be fitted with power
supply blanks in order to meet electromagnetic
interference (EMI) regulatory requirements and thermal
specifications. Power supply blanks are removed and
installed using the same procedure as for power supplies.
