Tape is not recognized by the system

If the tape does not seem to be recognized by Meridian Mail Compact Option,
try some or all of the following measures:

If you are performing a restore, ensure that you have inserted the
correct tape.

Ensure that you have inserted the tape correctly. (Refer to

page 214

Ensure that the tape is of the correct format. (Refer to

Procedure 42

Ensure that the tape is not write-protected.

Turn the tape drive off and then on again.

Clean the tape drive. (Refer to

page 296

Ensure that the tape drive has been correctly installed. (Refer to

Tape drive failure

If the tape fails or you receive a read-write error, turn the tape drive off
and then on again.

Starting a backup before inserting a tape

If, while attempting to manually back up the system, you inadvertently press
OK before inserting a tape

Insert a tape into the tape drive.

An error message is displayed indicating that the backup has failed.

Press [Exit].

Retry the backup procedure.
