Coating Tips

See Figure 3. Use these tips to help you obtain a quality coating:

• Hold the spray gun at a 90 degree angle to the surface being coated. If held at a 

different angle, the coverage will be uneven and flawed.

• Use your arm, not your wrist, to move the gun parallel to the surface. Do not wave the 

gun with your wrist.

• Begin moving the spray gun before pulling the trigger. Move the gun back and forth 

at an even speed. This will ensure even, smooth overlapping patterns without any 

buildup where the trigger is pulled.

• Release the trigger before stopping arm movements.
• Immerse the gun nozzle in solvent or waterborne cleaning solution during pauses in 

production to prevent coating material from hardening on the nozzle.
