This section covers the basic operating procedures for the SCF-M1
handgun.
WARNING: Before operating this system, make sure you have
read and understood the safety precautions, system
description, and operating procedures given in the Nordson
UNICARB System manual(s) and in this manual. Failure to
respond properly to certain conditions can result in equipment
damage and personal injury.
WARNING: High pressures are present in this system. High
pressure fluids and air are injection hazards. Do not place any
part of your body in front of the gun nozzle, drain ports, or any
leak in the system. Do not disconnect any air or hydraulic
fittings without first relieving air or hydraulic pressure.
WARNING: The material contains carbon dioxide (CO
2
) and
must be sprayed in a well-ventilated area. While CO
2
is not
toxic, large concentrations of it can be hazardous.
1. Check all connections for tightness. Fill the pump solvent chambers if
necessary. Refer to the Nordson UNICARB System manual.
2. Make sure the trigger is locked.
3. Supply compressed air to the system.
4. Start up the UNICARB system according to the procedures in your
Nordson UNICARB System manual(s).
5. Turn ON the main power to the system.
WARNING: Do not operate the heater until the fluid delivery
system is fully pressurized and circulating. If fluid does not
circulate properly through the heater, the material will overheat
and the solvent will vaporize to a gas. This condition could
cause a failure of the pressure housing.
6. Once the system is circulating, turn the heaters ON (if used with your
system).
7. Trigger the gun(s) and begin spraying. Adjust the pressures as
necessary. Refer to the Nordson UNICARB System manual.
