Guidelines for O-ring and Seal Replacement
CAUTION:
When removing O-rings and seals from grooves, use a tool that
will not scratch the machined surfaces of the grooves. Scratches can cause
leaks.
When rebuilding the air motor, replace all seals and O-rings. Lubricate all
O-rings and seals with MagnaLube-G or equivalent PTFE-impregnated
grease as instructed.
Coupling Removal and Replacement
CAUTION:
Do not scratch or score the connecting rod. Any burrs will
damage the U-cup seal and cause it to leak.
Coupling Removal
1. Stop the air motor in the middle of a stroke. Shut off the air supply to the
pump and disconnect the air supply hose from the air valve.
2. See Figure C 1-1. Loosen the two set screws (32) in the coupling
sleeve (33) with a

16
-in. hex wrench.
3. Slide the coupling sleeve up the connecting rod (21) and remove the two
coupling halves (34) from the rod and plunger (A). Tap upward on the
sleeve with a rubber mallet to loosen it, if necessary.
4. Push the connecting rod up away from the plunger and remove the
coupling sleeve.
