Solvent Cup Installation
NOTE:
Do not tighten the solvent cup until you install the plunger through
the upper packings. Tightening the solvent cup expands the upper packings
and makes it difficult to install the plunger.
1. Pump revisions A
−
D: Thread the solvent cup adapter (5) into the upper
housing and tighten it snugly.
2. Thread the solvent cup (1) into the solvent cup adapter (5) (pump
revisions A
−
D), or into the upper housing (pump revisions E and above)
until the solvent cup just bottoms out against the packings.
Pressure Ball Valve Assembly
1. See Figure C 2-7. Place the flats of the pressure ball seat (10) into a
soft-jawed vise. Be careful not to damage the packings.
2. Clean the mating parts with a residue free cleaner or degreaser then
apply Loctite 242 removable thread adhesive to three to four threads all
the around the ball seat.
3. Place the small ball (9) on top of the pressure ball seat, between the
cage ears.
4. Thread the plunger (8) onto the ball seat.
5. Tighten the plunger until you feel metal-to-metal contact.
