Cleaning Solution for Flushing
WARNING:
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbon solvents in pressurized
systems that contain aluminum components. Refer to
Section B1 Safety
for
more information.
When you flush the pump or system, use a cleaning solution compatible
with your pump’s construction, packing gland type, the construction of other
components of your system, and the coating material you will be using.
Routine Startup
Preparation
Check levels of the
S
coating material supply (4)
S
solvent chamber fluid (3)
Make sure that the
S
siphon rod and strainer (5) are submerged in coating material
S
fluid and air connections are tight
S
air filter (2) has been drained
S
compressed air is available to run the pump
S
drain rod (10) is in a waste container (11) (circulating systems only)
S
pump, coating material supply, and waste container are grounded
Startup
1. Use the following formula to calculate the air pressure required to
produce the desired output pressure:
output pressure
pump ratio = air pressure required
For example, you want an output pressure of 1200 psi. Calculate the
required air pressure as follows:
PermaFlo 815: 1200 psi
15 = 80 psi air pressure required.
PermaFlo 830: 1200 psi
30 = 40 psi air pressure required.
NOTE:
The fluid pressure at the spray gun(s) will vary, depending on many
factors, including material viscosity and temperature, the number of filters
and heaters, and fluid hose ID and length. Install a fluid pressure gauge at
the spray gun(s) to determine the actual fluid pressure.
