Problem

Possible Cause

Corrective Action

Adjustable rail
crashes into inner
wall when
calibrating

Limit flag out of adjustment

Adjust the limit flag and perform limit switch
check. Refer to

Limit Switch Board Check

in this section.

Width overshoots
setpoints slightly
every time

Encoder failure

Remove the gear from the encoder shaft.

Slowly rotate the encoder shaft one
complete turn. Mark the shaft if necessary.
The actual display should change by
5.08-mm. Slowly rotate shaft back to
starting point. The actual display should
return to original value.

Repeat the procedure, except rotate the
shaft faster.

If the value displayed for actual width
did not change by 5.08 mm for one full
shaft rotation:

The encoder assembly is defective.
Replace encoder and reconnect gear
to the encoder.

If actual width values did change
5.08 mm for full shaft rotation:

Check cable number 2455.

Motor controller board
pin 2 to 250PL-1 pin 6

Motor controller board
pin 4 to 250PL-1 pin 9

If an open is found, repair
cable 2455.

If no open is found in cable 2455
the motor controller board is
probably at fault.

Defective motor controller board

Replace the motor controller board.
