Nordson Traffic Control
Traffic Control is not available on all the oven models. Traffic Control
verifies the time element of a time/temperature profile, and controls the
passage of product between the oven system and other upstream or
downstream equipment. The space between boards is called Pace
Delay and is programmable. Four break-beam photoelectric sensors
monitor the passage of product into, through, and out of the oven. The
information is used to detect jammed, missing or extraneous product,
thus preventing product damage. When such an error occurs, the oven
alerts the operator via audible and/or visual alarms. Actions from a
caution light to an emergency shutdown will automatically occur as
appropriate. Error screens will instruct the operator as to what actions
they should take when an error occurs.
NOTE: Traffic Control and Process Data are disabled when the product
width is less than 76.2-mm (3-in.) or if the support rail width setting is
between 25.5–76.1-mm (1–3 in.).
The break-beam sensors consist of an emitting sensor below the product
and a receiver sensor above the product. When the beam is broken by a
board the product is detected.
Traffic Control can be broken into two main functions:

Internal Product Monitoring and Product Handling (sensors 2 and 3)
S
Standard Machine Parallel Interface (SMPI) communications
(sensors 1 and 4)
NOTE: SMPI is an optional function of the Select Cure IR oven. Refer to
Standard Machine Parallel Interface in the Appendix for more
information.
