Pump Service Kit - P/Ns 1050729 (7.8 cc)

,

 1067875 (7.8 cc PA), 1086938 (7.8 cc machined), 1050728 (4.9 cc),

or 1069146 (4.9 cc PA)

This instruction sheet describes the replacement of the pump assembly
in a DuraBlue

t

 adhesive melter. Kit P/Ns 1067875 and 1069146 contain

high-temperature, chemical resistant O-rings (referred to in this
instruction sheet as PA).

WARNING: 

 Risk of personal injury or equipment damage! Refer to

the safety information provided in the melter manual before
servicing the melter. Failure to comply with the safety information
provided can result in personal injury, including death.

Required Tools:

Phillips-head screwdriver
10- and 13-mm wrenches
3- and 4-mm hex keys

Pump

Pump O-rings

Machine key

M8 x 90 mm screws w/washers
(spare)

Parker lubricant

3. 

Switch the melter off.

6. 

Remove the right-side coupling cover.

8. 

Remove the four M8 pump screws

and matching washers that attach the pump
to the bottom of the tank.

7. 

Remove the RTD and the heater from

the pump body. Save the screws, washer,
and, if applicable, the RTD retaining clip.

Note:

 

When reassembling the drive

assembly to the tank, tighten the M8 pump
screws to 16.3–17.6 N

m (12–13 ft-lb.).

For D4 melters, operate the melter until the tank is

completely empty. For D10 and D16 melters, close the tank
shut-off valve (position 2 is closed; position 1 is open.).

Disconnect power to the melter at the local power

disconnect switch.

 Allow the melter to heat up to Ready status. Refer to the

operation section of the melter product manual for information
about operating the melter.

5. 

Disconnect all hoses from the manifold.

WARNING: 

Risk of electrocution! The control switch does not

remove high-voltage power from the melter. Before opening the
electrical compartment door, ensure that the local power
disconnect switch is in the off position and locked. Failure to
properly disconnect the power from the melter can result in
personal injury, including death.

Remove the Drive Assembly

Note:

 

Retrofit kit P/N 1064357 is required

when replacing the pump assembly on a
melter that has a sheet metal-type drive
assembly bracket (shown to the right).

Note:

 

On some melters, a retaining clip

is not present because the RTD is housed
in a slot between the pump housing and the
manifold.
