Timing of the Digital output in Trigger Window Mode
The sensor measures at a selected measurement rate the distance to the target. If the
selected number of measurements (par 15) are detected inside the window (par 14 [x 10
cm]) in the selected distance (par 12, 13 [cm]), the Sensor sends a trigger signal of
selected length (par 17) to the digital output line and an ASCII character "T" to the
communication port. During the triggering pulse the sensor does not detect any new
targets.
New detection will start, when the sensor has not detected objects in the triggering
window during the clear check time (par 18).
The sensor provides a function to help the user to set up the proper triggering distance.
This function is described in Chapter 4.3
Automatic setting of the measurement
window.
5.1.1 In window and Out of window triggering
The trigger window mode has two alternative operation principles. Normally the trigger
signal is given when target is detected in the specified window. But if bit 1 of Control Byte
1 “Trigger Out of Window” is selected, the trigger signal will be given at the moment
measurements come outside of the specified window and also in case of failed
measurements.
The Out of Window triggering mode can be used for example if sensor is assembled to
such location that it can always detect ground (or road) and user want to get exact timing
information from the incoming vehicle. Furthermore this mode enables possibility to get
continuous trigger signal as long as the vehicle stays in the measurement beam, even
when the beam is reflected so that the sensor is not able to get distance measurements
from the vehicle (In this case set identical value to parameters #15 “Hits For Trig” and
#17 “Trigger Length”. Set also zero to parameter #18 “Clear Check Time”.)
