IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The NEWA Duetto is a submersible filter designed for indoor use. It is suitable for use in fresh or salt water
aquarium and terrariums. The filter is not suitable, and as a consequent not covered by the manufacturers
guarantee, for uses other than those specified.
This NEWA Duetto is in conformity with official safety standards EN 60335-2-41

CAUTION
: This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance because this is not
a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without
supervision.
2. WARNING : turn off and disconnect all the electrical equipment in the
aquarium before carrying out any maintenance tasks.
3. The power cord must not be repaired or replaced. If it is damaged, replace the
entire pump unit.
4. Always check the voltage on the pump label to make sure that it corresponds to the main power supply.
5. The pump can be used in fresh or marine water with maximum fluid temperature of 35° C.
6. The pump must not be left to run dry.
7. The pump can be immersed up to a maximum depth of 1 meter, as indicated by the international
symbol .
8. When the pump is plugged into the mains, make sure that the lowest part of the lead is lower than the
socket. This is to prevent accidental spillage of water traveling along the lead and reaching the socket
(fig. 1).
9. WARNING: the symbol indicates that the pump can only be used indoor.
10. We reccommend that all electrical aquarium equipment can be connected to a grounded circuit
breaker with a 30mA fuse
The
NEWA Duetto submersible filter, although small in size, guarantees complete filtering action:
- MECHANICAL: In the first stage, an efficiant pre-filter traps and holds suspended particulates
such as fish excrements, overfeeding, etc. It is removable and cleanable.
- BIOLOGICAL: In the second stage,bacterial colonies grow which convert toxic ammonia into
nitrites and afterwards nitrates.
- CHEMICAL ADSORBENT: In the third stage water is further purified by removal of dissolved
organic matter which eliminates bad smell and color.
The filtering elements of the three stages are separate, one from the other, allowing independent cleaning
and replacement of spare parts. Therefore, bacterial colonies can be permanently established and continue
biological filtration without disturbance.
The NEWA Duetto filter, thanks to its accurate, innovative, refined design, and its flattened shape, is
ideal for small and medium aquariums and tanks for turtle or other reptiles. The
NEWA Duetto filter
has, in addition, a flow-adjustment device and a patented and efficient aeration system. In the
“COMBI”
version, in combination with a NEWA Therm heater, it becomes a superb and independent thermo-
filtering station.
