Enabling UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)
The UPnP architecture supports zero-configuration, and automatic discovery of networking device
categories from a range of vendors; any device can dynamically join a network, obtain an IP
address, announce its name, convey its capabilities upon request, and learn about the presence and
capabilities of other devices. DHCP and DNS servers are optional and are only used if they are
available on the network. Devices can leave the network automatically without leaving any
unwanted state information behind. (UPnP is disabled by default).
To enable UPnP:
1. Select Administration > UPnP. The UPnP screen will display.
2. Check the Enable radio box under “ Do you want to enable UPnP service?” .
3. Click Apply to save the settings; otherwise, click Reset to return to previous settings.
Settings Backup and Firmware Upgrade
Once you have installed the quad WAN gigabit firewall and have it working properly, you should
back up a copy of your setting so that it is if something goes wrong. When you backup the settings,
they are saved as a file on your computer. You can then restore the quad WAN gigabit firewall
settings from this file. The
Settings Backup and Firmware Upgrade screen allows you to:
• Back up and save a copy of your current settings
• Restore saved settings from the backed-up file.
• Revert to the factory default settings.
• Check for a new version of software (either upon login or manually).
• Upgrade the quad WAN gigabit firewall firmware from a saved file on your hard disk to use a
different firmware version.
