Portable Vacuum Unit
• In order not to spread any hazardous dust when
transporting, the suction hose should be disconnec-
ted from the inlet so that the flap valve closes. The
majority of hoses can be ‘short-circuited’ by con-
necting the couplings at either end of the hose.
• The collecting receptacle must be fitted when trans-
porting and lifting the Portable Vacuum Unit. The
eccentric catches holding the collecting receptacle
must be secured with locking cotters, see
.
• Remove the cleaning equipment and other loose
parts from the Portable Vacuum Unit and empty the
receptacle prior to lifting.
• Replace sack/bag in the collecting receptacle if it
contains large amounts of heavy material.
• When lifting the Portable Vacuum Unit, the lifting
straps must be connected to the lifting loop inten-
ded for this purpose. Otherwise the Portable Vacu-
um Unit should not be lifted. At the same time check
that there is no damage at the lifting loop’s mounts
in the frame, and that other parts are firmly secured.
5 Maintenance
Read
ance.
Installation, repair and maintenance work is to be car-
ried out by qualified personnel using only original Ne-
derman spare parts. Contact your nearest authorized
distributor or Nederman for advice on technical ser-
vice.
NOTE!
The service intervals in this chapter are based
on the unit being professionally maintained.
5.1 Power unit
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Always use an approved breathing mask when
carrying out work that may involve exposure to
dust.
• Check the back-flush valve regularly. The valve
disc is situated in the silencer, where it can be seen
through the grille. During normal operation, the disk
is lifted by the discharge air. When the Portable Va-
cuum Unit is at rest or if the direction of rotation is
incorrect, the disc is depressed against the seat pre-
venting particles from entering.
• Check the starter, re-tighten cable connections. Re-
place damaged electrical components and visually
inspect cable(s).
5.2 Filter/Filter package
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Use an approved breathing mask when chan-
ging the filters.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
• The Portable Vacuum Unit must never be op-
erated with only a plastic sack, it must always
have a filter. Check regularly that the filter is
not defective.
• Do not place any objects on top of the unit
when cleaning the filter packages.
5.2.1 Micro-filter
• Replace the micro-filter every year or more fre-
quently if the vacuum effect decreases.
• Disconnect the clamping ring and lift the lid. Then
carefully lift out the filter and place it in a plastic
bag. Carefully seal the bag.
5.2.2 Filter package, Cartridge
, item a. The particles collect on the out-
side of the filter. Clearing of the filter is carried out
hourly or when the vacuum performance decreases.
The cartridge filter should be changed if required.
5.2.3 Filter package, CF
, item b. The particles collect on the out-
side of the filter. Clearing of the filter is carried out
hourly or when the vacuum performance decreases.
The filter membrane should be changed if required.
5.2.4 Filter package, PP
, item c. The particles collect on the out-
side of the filter. Cleaning is carried out every other
hour or when the vacuum performance decreases.
Replacing the entire filter package is recommended.
When only changing the socks, the filter ring should
also be replaced.
5.2.5 Filter package, sack
, item d. The sack should be replaced if it
becomes worn, damaged or when particles begin to
penetrate.
5.3 Plastic sack/Filter bag
Replacement of plastic sack/filter bag is carried out in
accordance with
5.4 Cleaning
The Portable Vacuum Unit must be operating, the
hose must be disconnected and the flap valve closed
before cleaning takes place.
• Press 3–4 times. This is to build up sufficient vacu-
um in the container.
• Check the seal and the lever’s function.
5.5 Casing
Check:
• That the eccentric catches are properly fastened.
• That the cotters for the locks are in place, See
