3-8 Reviewing System Features

The high-bandwidth PCI local bus eliminates data
bottlenecks found in traditional systems, maintains
maximum performance at high clock speeds, and provides a
clear upgrade path to future technologies.

The PCI bus contains the embedded PCI local bus IDE
interface and supports the video controller.

SCSI Subsystem

The system is equipped with a SCSI subsystem featuring
the Adaptec AIC-7895CP. This chip provides a dual-
channel SCSI controller and a PCI bus master interface.
The system board has three SCSI connectors for internal
SCSI devices; two are high-density 16-bit 68-pin Wide
connectors, and one is an 8-bit 50-pin Narrow connector.
Channel A uses the high-density Wide connector. Channel
B uses one high-density Wide connector and/or the 50-pin
Narrow connector.

The AIC-7895CP supports Narrow or Wide Fast SCSI
with 10-20 MB/sec throughput per channel, and Narrow or
Wide Ultra SCSI with 20-40 MB/sec throughput per
channel.

If your system was shipped with a SCSI device, it also has
SCSI drivers and the SCSISelect utility, allowing you to
use and configure the devices connected to the SCSI
subsystem.

The SCSI subsystem also supports the use of a RAIDport
card, and the system board has a RAIDport. A RAIDport
card allows multiple disks to be used as a single disk
system.
