Installation and Connection Procedures
This chapter describes the procedure for the installation and connection of the disk array unit. In
general, follow the procedure shown in Section 4.1 for the installation and connection of the disk array
unit.
Refer to Chapter 1 "Notes on the Installation and Handling of the Disk Array Unit" before beginning.
CAUTION
•
Do not deliver any shock or vibration to the disk array unit. Excess shock or
vibration may cause the disk array unit to become defective.
•
While the disk array unit NFx500-SR40E can accept power in the range of 100 to
240 VAC (50/60 Hz), the power cord coming included with the disk array unit can
only accept 100 to 120 VAC. Use 100 to 120 VAC (50/60 Hz) when the included
power cord is used. Using power of different voltage may cause electric shock,
smoke, and/or fire to occur.
Installation and Connection Procedures
Inventory the components in the package
Check the components in the package following the "Pre-Installation Checklist". If any
component is missing, contact your sales representative.
Installation into the rack
Install the disk array unit in the rack according to Appendix D "Installing the Unit in a Rack".
Connection of a host bus adapter
Connect the host bus adapter according to the manual provided with the host system or host
bus adapter. And, install the proper driver.
Connection of a FC cable
Use a cable compatible with the disk array unit.
Insert the connector until the latch emits a click. Do not forcibly bend the cable.
When disconnecting the cable, be careful not to apply excessive force to it. Hold and remove
the connector by pushing the latch.
Keep the dustproof cover attached to SFP mounted on controller and the FC cable to use
during storage and transportion.
