The Torry Holt
home theater system
Torry Holt is a stand-out wide receiver for the World Champion St. Louis
Rams. A talented athlete, Torry holds a long list of records on the football
field, including helping the Rams earn an NFL Championship. In addition
to his football achievements, he is also the founder of the Torry Holt
Foundation, which was established in 1999 in honor of Torry’s mother,
who lost her life to cancer. Through its programs, fundraisers and other
events, the foundation emphasizes the education and support of
everyone affected by the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment. Torry even
makes his own monetary donations to the foundation for every Rams win
and 100-yard game he achieves. He is dedicated to his family, his
business and everything about the sport of football.
the challenge
When Torry and his wife decided to convert the basement of their home
into an entertainment room, they needed the space to serve several
purposes. First, it had to be comfortable and open for social gatherings
with family and friends. Second, they wanted an area that was decorative,
yet safe and clutter-free as it would also be used as a recreation room for
the Holt children. And since Torry sometimes held Foundation meetings
in his home, he needed a technology-enabled room that was functional
for professional discussions.
To complete the entertainment room, which also contained a pool table,
air hockey table, bar, wrap-around couch and home theater system, Torry
was in search of a display that would give him a larger, more vibrant image
with broader signal compatibility than his traditional CRT television.
Whether he was hosting friends for the NCAA tournament, popping in
an animated DVD movie for his children or hooking up his laptop to
review the latest results in cancer research on the web with his staff, the
display he chose had to be easy to use and able to quickly switch input
signals to accommodate the varying uses of the room.
