Installing Workstation
Refer to the following figure and select a suitable site for your work-
station.
Read "Notes on Using Your Workstation" described
on the reverse side before proceeding to the instal-
lation for completing the installation safely.
Making Connections
Refer to the following figure and connect your keyboard, monitor,
and mouse. Connect any external peripheral devices such as a
printer or modem by following the instructions included with these
devices (Two USB 2.0 connectors are located on the front of your
workstation).
*1 Keyboard, mouse, and monitor cables must be connected until the
network operating system is installed completely.
*2 The device driver supplied from the hardware manufacurer is required.

Front mask
The front mask should be removed to install/remove the
hard disk drive and backup file device.
Left side cover
The left side cover should be removed to access to built-
in devices and/or mother board.

Side Cover/Front Mask Removal
Position the system on
i t s r i g h t s i d e w h i l e
w o r k i n g i n s i d e t h e
system.
1. Loosen two screws.
2. Slide the cover toward the back
of the system.
3. Pull the cover out and away
from the chassis.
To reinstall the left side cover;
1. Insert the metal tabs on the top and bottom of the cover into
their slots on the chassis. Slide the cover frontward as far as
it will go.
2. Replace the side cover retaining screws.
1. Remove the left side cover.
2. Pull the three release tabs at
the left end of the front mask
toward you so that the tabs
are removed from the chassis.
3. Move the front mask to
the left and pull it away
from the chassis.

1. For IDE model, disconnect
all the cables connected to
the HDDs.
For SCSI model, disconnect
the SCSI cable from mother
board and disconnect all the
power cable from the HDDs.

exppansion slot cover.
5. Firmly press the board into an expansion slot on the
mother board.
6. Insert the metal
tabs on the PCI
retention spring

and connect the
cables to the
devices.

5. Make sure all internal cables properly connected.
For SCSI model, the SCSI cable is fixed with the internal
cable clips.
3. Install the HDD into the bay and fix
it with four screws.

Connecting the Power Cord
Plug the female end of the AC power cord into the input receptacle
on the rear of the power supply cage. Plug the male end of the
power cord into outlet for 100-120 VAC or 200-240 VAC.
If the power cord supplied with the system is not compatible with the AC
wall outlet in your region, obtain a suitable power cord that meets the
following criteria.
❏
The power cord must be rated for the available AC voltage and have
a current rating that is at least 125% of the current rating of the sys-
tem.
❏
The power cord connector that plugs into the wall outlet must be
terminated in a grounding-type male plug designed for use in your
region.
It must have certification marks showing certification by an agency
acceptable in your region.
❏
The power code is to spend the thing of the next specifications.
Rated minimum 125V, 10A, Type SJT flexible cord

The power cord must be a maximum of 4.5 meters (14.76 ft.) long.
When connecting the power cord to a power control unit such as an UPS,
confirm that the power control unit is powered OFF. Connecting the power
cord while power is supplied to the power control unit may cause a fail-
ure.
Your system shipped with a power cord for the
power supply. Do not attempt to modify or use the supplied AC
power cord if it is not the exact type required.
Powering on Your System
Power on your system as follows.
1. Make sure all external devices, such as a video display, keyboard,
and mouse have been connected, and the power cords are connected.
2. Power on the video display and any other external devices.
3. Press the push-button power on/off switch on the front panel. Verify
that the Power/Sleep Status LED is lit in green. If it is not lit, ensure
the ac power cord is connected to a functional ac power source.
After a few seconds your system begins the internal Power-On Self
Test (POST). POST automatically checks the system board, CPU mod-
ule, memory, keyboard, and most installed peripheral devices.
Installing Network Operat-
ing System
Refer to the manual that comes with your network operating system.
IMPORTANT: Always allow POST to complete before powering
down your system.
If you configure your system board setting, press the <F2> key while "Press
<F2> to enter SETUP" message appered on the screen to run the BIOS
SETUP utility. Refer to Chapter 4 of your UserÅfs Guide for detail.
If you configure the optional add-in card setting, refer to the manual that
comes with the opptional card for detail.
Remove these
screws.
4. Reinstall the hard disk
bay.
Insert the metal tabs on the
chassis into their slots on
the bay.
Insert the craws to the
holes of the chassis.
Secure a
screw.
Fix the bay with
screws removed
ate step 1.
