Fuse/Breaker Trip Time
When selecting an over current protection device to use on the ac mains supply for the transmitter,
follow the requirements of the local electrical code. In addition to those requirements, ensure that the
protection device meets the following requirements to ensure that it protects the transmitter's internal
wiring, but does not trip because of inrush current:
 The device should not trip when 12 times the transformer's rated primary full-load current is
applied for 0.1 seconds.
 The device should not trip when 25 times the transformer's rated primary full-load current is
applied for 0.01 seconds.
 The device should trip when 29 times the transformer's rated primary full-load current is applied
for 0.25 seconds.
Calculate the transformer's rated primary full-load current (I

) using the transformer's apparent power
rating (10 kVA) and the transformer tap line-to-line voltage (V

) as follows:
Example: If transformer taps are set for 220 V ac, the transformer’s rated primary full-load current is
26.2 A.
