aliasing
the consequence of sampling that causes signals with frequencies higher
than half the sampling frequency to appear as lower frequency components
in a frequency spectrum
amplification
a type of signal conditioning that improves accuracy in the resulting
digitized signal by increasing signal amplitude relative to noise
auto-zero
the technique of internally shorting the inputs to a differential amplifier,
while disconnecting the signal source, to compensate for
temperature-induced offset voltage errors
B
bandwidth
the range of frequencies present in a signal, or the range of frequencies to
which a measuring device can respond
Bessel filter
a lowpass filter whose characteristics are optimized for phase linearity
BNC
a type of coaxial signal connector
BW
bandwidth
C
C
Celsius
CE
European emissions control standard
CFR
Code of Federal Regulations
CHx+
positive input terminal for channel x
CHx–
negative input terminal for channel x
CMRR
common-mode rejection ratio—a measure of the ability of a differential
amplifier to reject interference from a common-mode signal, usually
expressed in decibels (dB)
CMV
common-mode voltage
code width
the smallest detectable change in an input voltage of a DAQ device
