About This Manual
This guide is a beginner’s handbook to the installation, configuration,
and use of the National Instruments Signal Conditioning eXtensions for
Instrumentation (SCXI) chassis, modules, and associated data acquisition
(DAQ) devices. This guide is an introduction to SCXI, not a complete
reference. Advanced users should refer to the appropriate hardware and
software manuals for further information.
Conventions Used in This Guide
The following conventions are used in this guide.

symbol indicates that the following text applies only to a specific
product, a specific operating system, or a specific software version.
This icon denotes a note, which alerts you to important information.
This icon denotes a caution, which advises you of precautions to take to
avoid injury, data loss, or a system crash.
This icon denotes a warning, which advises you of precautions to take to
avoid being electrically shocked.
AI device
Refers to analog input devices that have AI in their names, such as the
AT-AI-16XE-10.
AT E Series devices
These AT devices have an E- toward the ends of their names, such as the
AT-MIO-16DE-10 and AT-AI-16XE-10.
bold
Bold text denotes items that you must select or click on in the software,
such as menu items and dialog box options. Bold text also denotes
parameter names.
DAQCard E Series
Refers to the DAQCard-AI-16E-4 and DAQCard-AI-16XE-50.
devices
DIO-24
Refers to the PC-DIO-24, DAQCard-DIO-24, and PCI-6503.
DIO-96
Refers to the PC-DIO-96/PnP, PCI-DIO-96, PCI-6508, PXI-6508,
or DAQPad-6508.
