Fiber Driver Applications

11.1.2. Link Management Protocol

LMP is a ring management protocol. It is disabled by default. LMP, which is similar to Rapid Spanning
tree, breaks loops in the network to prevent broadcast storms.

To enable LMP:

fiberdriver# configure terminal

fiberdriver(config)# sys lmp

fiberdriver(config)#

To disable LMP:

fiberdriver# configure terminal

fiberdriver(config)# no sys lmp

fiberdriver(config)#

LMP only breaks rings on segments connected through the OSC (SFP) ports. LMP frames are not sent or
recieved through the RJ45 Ethernet network interface.

Since LMP only functions on the OSC (SFP) ports, segment loops involving the RJ45 port
are not detected. Avoid segment loops when configuring RJ45 Ethernet connections.
