2. Select the
Statistics
tab.
Refer to the following to assess the network throughput of existing virtual interfaces:
Name
Displays the user-defined interface name. The corresponding statistics are displayed
along the row. The statistics are the total traffic to the interface since its creation.
Bytes In
Displays the number of bytes coming into the interface. The status is not self-updated.
To view the current status, click the
Details
button.
Packets In
Displays the number of packets coming into the interface (including packets dropped,
error packets, etc.)
Packets In Dropped
Displays the number of dropped packets coming into the interface. Packets are dropped if:
1.
The input queue for the hardware device/software module handling the interface
definition is saturated/full.
2.
Overruns occur when the interface receives packets faster than it can transfer them to
a buffer.
Packets In Error
Displays the number of error packets coming into the interface.
•
Runt frames
— Packets shorter than the minimum Ethernet frame length (64 bytes).
•
CRC errors
— The
Cyclical Redundancy Check
(CRC) is the 4 byte field at the end of
every frame. The receiving station uses to interpret if the frame is valid. If the CRC
value computed by the interface does not match the value at the end of frame, it is
considered as a CRC error.
•
Late collisions
— A late collision is any collision that occurs after the first 64 octets
of data have been sent by the sending station. Late collisions are not normal and are
usually the result of out of specification cabling or a malfunctioning device.
•
Misaligned frames
— A misaligned frame is a frame that somehow gets out of sync
with the receiving station’s receive clock recovery circuit. Misalignment is reported if
the frame ends with a CRC error and extra bits are also detected.
Bytes Out
Displays the number of bytes going out on the interface.
