Public Safety
Speaker/Microphones
Models: RMN5072, RMN5073
& RMN5074
DESCRIPTION
The RMN5072, RMN5073, and RMN5074 Public Safety Speaker/
Microphones (PSSM) include a speaker, microphone, push-to-talk
(PTT) switch, high/low volume switch, swivel clip, RF adapter, and
accessory connector cord assembly. The three microphones are
exactly the same, except that the lengths of their cords are differ-
ent: RMN5072 is 30”, RMN5073 is 24”, and the RMN5074 is 18”.
When the PSSM’s accessory connector is attached to the radio, the
radio’s speaker is disabled, and the received audio is instead
routed to the PSSM’s speaker. Similarly, the PSSM’s microphone is
connected to the radio’s transmitter, and the PSSM’s PTT switch
can now control the PTT function of the radio. The radio’s micro-
phone and PTT switch are still operational but, since the radio’s
speaker is disabled, you can listen to the received audio
only
through the accessory speaker. Similarly, when a secondary
receiver audio accessory is plugged into the 3.5mm audio jack, the
received audio can
only
be heard through the secondary acces-
sory.
The public safety speaker/microphone has a threaded antenna port
on its top. The antenna must be ordered separately. Use the radio
antennas.
Notes:
•
Before the PSSM can be used with a radio, a radio frequency
(RF) adapter (RLN5918) must be installed in the radio’s
antenna port.
The PSSM also has a 3.5mm earphone jack. A seal, attached to
the accessory connector, is provided to cover the earphone jack
when it is not in use.
