Troubleshooting the Single Slot Charge Only Cradle
Symptom Possible Cause Action
Charge LEDs do not
light when device is
inserted. Cradle is not receiving power. Ensure the power cable is connected securely to both the
cradle and to AC power.
Device is not seated correctly in
the cradle. Remove and re-insert the device into the cradle, ensuring it is
correctly seated.
Extreme battery temperature. Battery does not charge if battery temperature is below 32°F
(0°C) or above 104°F (40°C).
Device battery is not
charging. Device was removed from cradle
or cradle was unplugged from
AC power too soon. Ensure cradle is receiving power. Ensure device is seated
correctly. If a device battery is fully depleted, it can take up to
four hours to fully recharge the Li-ion battery.
Battery is faulty. Verify that other batteries charge properly. If so, replace the
faulty battery.
Device is not fully seated in the
cradle. Remove and re-insert the device into the cradle, ensuring it is
correctly seated.
Extreme battery temperature. Battery does not charge if battery temperature is below 32°F
(0°C) or above 104°F (40°C).
During data
communications, no
data was transmitted,
or transmitted data
was incomplete. Device removed from cradle
during communications. Replace device in cradle and retransmit.
Incorrect cable configuration. See the system administrator.
Communications software is not
installed or configured properly. Perform setup as described in Chapter 4, Radio
Communications .
Device does not boot
when placed in the
cradle. The device’s battery is
discharged. Normal behavior if the battery is severely discharged. The
battery must charge at a reduced charge rate until the battery
acquires sufficient charge to boot the device. This can take up
to two hours, depending on the level of battery discharge.
This can be avoided by powering the cradle with the optional
external power supply.
