If an ESD station is not available, you can avoid damage resulting from
ESD by wearing an antistatic wrist strap (available at electronics stores)
that is attached to an active electrical ground. Note that a system chassis
may not be grounded if it is unplugged.
Unpacking Guidelines
If the shipping carton is damaged upon receipt, request that the carrier’s
agent be present during the unpacking and inspection of the equipment.

Caution
When unpacking the equipment, avoid touching areas of integrated
circuitry; static discharge can damage circuits.
Refer to the packing list and verify that all items are present. Save the
packing material for storing and reshipping equipment.
Preparing the Board for Installation
The MBX series embedded controller provides software control over many
options. By setting bits in control registers after installing the board in a
system, you can modify its configuration. (Control registers are described
in the MBX Series Embedded Controller Version B Programmer’s
Reference Guide listed in
Appendix B, Related Documentation
.)
Some options, however, are not software-programmable. Such options are
controlled through manipulation of jumper headers on the MBX board.
