Installing and Removing the Presetter Arm
To use the in-machine tool presetter, install the presetter arm to the machine and measure the tool
geometry offset data. After completing measurement, remove the presetter arm from the
machine.
This section describes the procedure for installing and removing the presetter arm.
1.
Never attempt mounting/removal of the presetter arm in the presetter mode (the
indicator in the presetter mode switch
is lit). If attempted, the tool geometry
offset data could be changed depending on the contact conditions of the
connection part at the base and the presetter arm. If machining is executed
although the tool geometry offset data has been changed, it will cause
interference of the tools, tool holders, and/or turret head with the workpiece,
chuck, and/or fixture, causing damage to the machine.
2.
When installing the presetter arm to the machine or removing it from the machine
or container, pay sufficient care not to give shocks to the presetter arm, especially
to the sensor. If shocks are applied to the sensor or presetter arm, the sensor
may be damaged or the presetter arm may be distorted, making it impossible to
set the appropriate tool geometry offset data.
<Installing the presetter arm>
1)
Clean the area around the base so that chips and
foreign matter will not stick on the base and the
removed cover. Also keep them away from coolant.
2)
Turn the locking lever counterclockwise to the
unlock position (angle of turning: 132
).
3)
Remove the protection cover from the base.
4)
Take out the presetter arm from the container.
When taking out the presetter arm, make sure to
hold the grip of it.
Do not hold the presetter arm for a long time.
5)
Make sure that the connection parts of the presetter
arm and the base are free of chips and foreign
matter.
When cleaning the base with rag, pay attention
so that chips and foreign matter will not enter
the hole in the lock mechanism. Entry of
foreign matter will cause malfunctioning of the
tool presetter.
If the connection part is dirty with chips or foreign
matter, clean the connection part with rag.
