Fitting the Tailstock Spindle Center

The procedure for fitting the tailstock spindle center is described here.

In the case of machines equipped with the tailstock of live center specification, a live
center must always be used for the tailstock. If another type of center is used and the
spindle is rotated with a workpiece held between the centers, the center will seize,
damaging the machine.

1)

Clean the tapered hole in the tailstock spindle.

2)

Clean the tapered face of the center.

3)

Fit the center into the center hole.

WARNING

Before fitting the tailstock spindle center, turn off the power supply.

If you attempt to fit the tailstock spindle center while the power is on, the
machine may start operating unexpectedly, and you may be entangled in
its rotating parts or caught by its moving parts and seriously injured.
