Glossary of Terms

ft:

In, near, or toward the stern of a boat.

Aground:

A boat stuck on the bottom.

Amidships:

In or toward the part of a boat midway

between the bow and stern.

Anchor:

A specially shaped heavy metal device

Bridge:

Bridge Deck:

A deck forward and usually above the

cockpit deck.

Broach:

When the boat is sideways to the seas and
