3.7 Helm and Engine Instrumentation
The helm station is equipped with a set of engine
instruments and/or alarms. These instruments
allow the operator to monitor engine operational
conditions. Close observation of these instru-
ments allows the operator to operate the en-
gines at the most efficient level and could save
the engines from serious costly damage. The
instrumentation is unique to the type of engines
installed in your boat.
Most engine installations include LCD multifunc-
tion display and control modules that monitor all
critical engine systems in analog and/or digital
views. These systems can be integrated with
the electronic navigation equipment installed on
your boat. Display screens are controlled by but-
tons and/or touch screen icons, depending on the
control module.
A brief description of the integrated gauges and
their basic functions are listed in this section.
Other functions that are dependent on the en-
gines and electronics installed on your boat may
also be available. Refer to the engine and control
module owner’s manuals and the manuals for
the electronics installed on your boat for detailed
information on the operation of the instruments
and additional functions available. Some manu-
facturers also provide a quick reference guide that
provides information and instructions for most
display applications. Contact your dealer if you
need assistance with the operation and features
for the control modules in your boat.
