General Notes on 
PROFIBUS-DP

This chapter contains detailed information about the 
connection of XStart to PROFIBUS-DP.

Please refer to the manual „XI/ON PROFIBUS-DP", 
AWB2700-1394GB for further information concerning 
PROFIBUS-DP and XI/ON.

The connections of XStart to a Moeller PLC and a Siemens 
PLC are described.

XStart is fieldbus independent. The connection and commu-
nication with the other fieldbus stations can only be 
achieved via the XI/ON gateway.

Electronic Device Data 
Sheets (GSD Files)

The XStart modules are incorporated in the PROFIBUS-DP 
structure with the aid of the electronic device data sheets. 
These device data are described in the XI/ON specific GSD 
files from the version 1.4 onwards.
