8.1 Structure
Precautions for using the RS-422/USB communication function
Note the following to prevent an electric shock or malfunction of the servo amplifier.
Connecting the power of a personal computer
Connect the power of a personal computer with the following procedure.

When using a personal computer with an AC power supply
• When using a personal computer with a three-core power plug or a power plug with a grounding wire, use a three-pin
socket or ground the grounding wire.
• When your personal computer has a two-core power plug and has no grounding wire, connect the personal computer to the
servo amplifier with the following procedure.
1.
Disconnect the power plug of the personal computer from the AC power socket.
2.
Check that the power plug has been disconnected and connect the computer to the servo amplifier.
3.
Connect the power plug of the personal computer to the AC power socket.

When using a personal computer with battery
The computer can be used as it is.
Connection with other devices using servo amplifier communication function
When the servo amplifier is charged with electricity due to connection with a personal computer and the charged servo
amplifier is connected with other devices, the servo amplifier or the connected devices may malfunction. Connect the servo
amplifier and other devices with the following procedure.
1.
Shut off the power of the device to be connected with the servo amplifier.
2.
Shut off the power of the servo amplifier that was connected with the personal computer, and check that the charge light
is off.
3.
Connect the device with the servo amplifier.
4.
Turn on the power of the servo amplifier and the connected device.
