Phones
A variety of multi-protocol, IP-only, and digital telephones can be used on the MiVoice Office 250.
The combination of phones depends on the number and type of phone modules installed. For phone
illustrations, see “Phones“ on page 479 . For end user feature descriptions, refer to the End User
Features chapter in the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
.
At least one display phone should be installed to allow an administrator the capability of seeing
system alarm messages, program system data, and receive unsupervised CO recalls. When the
system is in the default configuration, extension number 1000 is preassigned as an Administrator
and as the Primary Attendant. If extension number 1000 is deleted from the database, an alternative
extension must be assigned as the Administrator and the Primary Attendant.
Multi-Protocol Phones
The following multi-protocol phones support the full functionality IP mode but not the functionality of
the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) mode, on the MiVoice Office 250 platform:
• 8600 – No Display
• 8620/8622 – With 2-Line Display
• 8662 – With 6-Line Display
• 8690 – With Multimedia Touchscreen
IP Phones
The MiVoice Office 250 supports the following IP-only phones:
• 52xx/53xx-series phones (5212, 5224, 5304, 5312, 5324, 5320, 5330, 5340, and 5360)
• 8660 – 6-Line Display
• 8664 – 2-Line Display 802.11b Wireless
• 8665 – 2-Line Display 802.11b Wireless
NOTE
Optional Headsets
A headset may be attached to phones by unplugging the handset from the handset jack on
the base of the phone, plugging the headset into the handset jack, and entering a feature
code to enable the headset. The Speaker button, which is used to turn the headset on and
off, is lit when placing and receiving calls and unlit when the headset is not in use. The
phones are compatible with industry-standard, 4-conductor, modular headsets that have
electret microphones. For installation instructions, refer to the Installation chapter in this
manual.
Some of the phones have dedicated headset jacks on the rear of the phone. This allows the
phone to have a headset and handset plugged in simultaneously. The headset, however,
must still be enabled using the feature code. The Speaker button is used to turn the headset
on and off and to indicate when the headset is not in use. In addition, the hookswitch is
enabled even when the headset is turned on. This allows the user to answer a call with the
handset without having to disable the headset.
NOTE
86xx multi-protocol phones in SIP mode are not supported on the MiVoice Office 250
platform. See page 275 for changing from SIP mode to IP mode.
