Appendix
G
Power Consumption Guide
The ImPact WNS can have different components enabled or disabled based on the devices required. This
means that each node in the network may use a different amount of power. This appendix provides
information for calculating the power consumption of a node. For determining power consumption of a
network, please consult your MST System Engineer.
ImPact WNS Power Consumption

Power
Consumption
(W)
Component
This includes the main switch board and a single WAC
board with the radio off.
5
Base unit (main board and
management board)
This is an average figure since fibre modules can have
varying power consumption levels.
1.3
Fibre port (each)
The incremental power consumption associated with
enabling the radio on WAC 1.
0.8
WAC 1 Radio
The power consumption of WAC2, including the radio
being enabled.
2.2
WAC 2 Radio
The power required to run the 48V step up module even
with no load connected. A 48V step up is required to run
the PoE board.
0.8
48V Step up controller
The power consumption of the PoE board with no devices
attached.
0.8
PoE board
The consumption of each attached PoE device will vary
but needs to be added to the overall power consumption.
See Note.
PoE devices
A 20% overhead is also added to cater for the inefficiency
of the 48V step up power supply.
1.6
Gigabit copper port
ImPact WAP (PoE powered)
3.3 W Power consumption
