Setting a Media
This machine can be used with a roll media and leaf
media.
For usable medias, refer to P.1-14 “Usable sizes of
media”.
Setting Feeding and Take-up unit
For the “Feeding and Take-up unit” settings, set the
following items:
• Use feeding unit and take-up unit/ Do not use feeding unit or
take-up unit.
• Use/Do not use tension bar.
• Operation when the ON/OFF switch for feeding/ take-up unit
is pressed.
In this machine, by selecting how to use the tension bar in
the feeding/take-up unit setting, you can print by any of
the following four methods.

(MENU) (twice)
in LOCAL.
• MACHINE SETUP MENU will be displayed.

Press to select “FEEDING/TAKE-
UP UNIT”, and pressthe key.

Press the key.
• “FEEDING UNIT” will be selected.

Press to select a set value, and
press the key.
• Set Value : ON/ OFF

• “FEEDING TENSION BAR” will be selected.

Press to select a set value, and
pressthe key.
• Set Value : ON/ OFF

• “TAKE-UP UNIT” will be selected.

• Set Value : ON/ OFF

• “TAKE-UP TENSION BAR” will be selected.

• “Feeding/ Take-up SW” will be selected.

• Set Value : Continuance/ Temporary
Continuance :
Switching ON / OFF the winding operation when
pressing the switch each time. (Take-up unit in
operation does not stop until press again ON /
OFF switch.)
Temporary :
Do the winding operation only while holding
down the switch. (When release the switch,
winding operation is stopped. )

Press the key several times to
end the setting.
• Take care not to drop the media on your foot when
setting the media.It may cause an injury due to the
media.
• When setting a roll media, work by two or more
people. Otherwise, you may hurt your back by the
weight of the roll media.
• Adjust the head height prior to setting the media.If
the head height is adjusted after the media is set,
this may cause a media jamming, deterioration of
the print quality or head damage.
• With this machine, you can set media on the right
side or in the center. When setting media, be sure
to set it so that it covers one of the two media
sensors on the back of this machine.
• If setting the media in the center, use the take-up
extension cable.
• The head height is adjustable according to the
purpose of use.

Use on the feeding

In P.2-8 “Using the tension bar to set
the roll media”, configure the settings
by excluding all the operations for the
tension bar on the unused side.
Use on the take-up
side only

Set the media refer to P.2-13.
• If you are using the direct-connection unit, the
winding operation will be carried out with the
“TEMPORARY” setting even if you select
“CONTINUANCE”.
• Set feeding/take-up tension bar in “FEEDING/
TAKE-UP” before setting media. Even if you try
after detecting the media width (
P.2-11), you
cannot set feeding/take-up tension bar.
• You can change the ON/OFF settings of Feeding/
Take-up unit after detecting the media width.
When turning OFF from ON
Feeding/take-up unit does not operate.
When turning ON from OFF
If torque limiter is attached, only take-up
operation without using tension bar is
performed.
If direct-connection unit is attached, take-up
operation is not performed.
• If you want to change the feeding/ take-up method
while setting media, remove the set media and
carry out the operations from step 1 again.
